Verification on Avern
"Verified on Avern" means specific things were checked, by whom, and when. Each dimension is tracked and can expire independently.
- Identity
- The person is who they claim to be. Document and liveness checks through an identity provider.
- Company
- The organization legally exists and is active. Registry lookups and corporate documents, reviewed by a person.
- Authority
- The person may act for the company. Evidence of role or a signed authorization.
- Beneficial ownership
- Who ultimately owns and controls the company. Directors, representatives, and owners are modelled explicitly.
- Sanctions
- Screening against applicable sanctions lists. Potential matches go to a compliance reviewer. A fuzzy match is never an accusation.
- Financial capacity
- Evidence appropriate to the size of the transaction, reviewed for the specific deal.
- Product evidence
- Evidence tied to the specific product and lot. An uploaded document is not proof of ownership.
- License
- Where the activity requires a license, the license is confirmed.
Document states are explicit
A document moves through named states. Uploaded is not verified. Under review means a person has not finished yet.

Automation helps with extraction and consistency checks. Identity, sanctions, funds, ownership, and legal status are never declared by software alone.
When something is waiting on a person, Avern says so: the status reads “Under review”, not “Verifying”. The brand depends on the system state being true.
